Hi all,

Saw project K++ announced on Slashdot today go to
http://www.robertpeake.com/CannedKandinsky/
a kandinsky emulator
doc at
http://www.robertpeake.com/CannedKandinsky/doc/

it uses ming
http://ming.sourceforge.net/
and php
http://www.php.net/

I'd not used ming before so I downloaded the samples and relevant php files
and had a little offline play about with it. It's pretty
straightforward..only about 2 hours of messying about to understand what's
going on, configure it and get my first program written with it (well the
"Hello World" stage). Anyway if I do anything interesting with it I'll send
a URL.

If you want a layman's explanation of the above basically ming lets you
write php programs to generate swf files (flash movies). So if you have ming
and php on your server you can make flash movies on the fly...very cool it
seems.

Well thought you'd want to know...hopefully I'll find some time over the
next few weeks to play with it. I think there're a lot of applications for
this tech esp. visual poetry...normally it takes ages to create flash
animations so this thing should be a real time saver whilst allowing great
degree of randomisation in creating content.

cheers,

Sol.
