 An Exhibition Of Outdoor Sound Art For Cork2005
 

Sound Out is an exhibition of outdoor sound art  for Cork2005 curated by  Danny 
Mc Carthy and David Toop and takes in a large section of the city centre. It 
features four internationally renown artists Christina Kubisch, Robin Rimbaud 
aka Scanner, Max Eastley and Akio Suzuki.

Christina Kubisch’s work is sited at the Cork Vision Centre, North Main Street 
and is sited on a tree in the grounds. It is powered by solar power and based 
on the famous Cork story of the battle of the birds.

Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner’s work is sited in the courtyard of Wandsford Quay 
Studios and entitled Marsh Traces and is based on the street names of the city 
both in English and Gaelic.

Max Eastley’s work is situated on the entrance pillar of the gates of the 
University College on the Western Road and is an acoustic sound sculpture based 
around his infamous wind flutes.

Akio Suzuki has created a sonic trail with listening points all over the city 
ranging from the Western Road to the City’s quays.
The project has been supported by Cork2005 with the National Sculpture Factory 
acting as facilitating partner.
