it is right if you prefer to stick to open source drivers, and you don't care about advanced graphics card features like shaders. if you need full gpu power unfortunately you will need the proprietary drivers.I asked several people, most people told met to go for a bit older ATI cards, cause they have (improved) open source drivers....
