Dear list, I just accidentally came across this; http://www.stripedgazelle.org/joey/dreamos.html That's a version of Scheme you can -apparently- boot of a floppy, instead of a OS.
Where it gets interesting is that it includes a primitive vi clone, done in scheme, for this OS's editor. This sounds like the kind of thing we could borrow, bolt to something like my scene-graph printing stuff, and use as a start to have the editor in Scheme. On the downside I couldn't find a license yet. Does that sound at all sensible? I'm not aware of much practical progress being made in this direction, aside from everyone so far agreeing that it'd be a fun and useful idea. Yours, Kas.
