Hi Annette,
It is quite possible to do what you are looking to accomplish.
I am not quite sure from your email, if u would like to tile the data and create your own subsets of the 10 dwg files.
You can look at the tiler in FME Workbench.
On the output destination feature taking the name of the input dwg file automatically is quite easy in FME Workbench now.
You can do what is called as a FANOUT based on an attribute value.

Example: I have 10 dwg files. I want to process the files and output
them as individual tiles, using their original files name.
How can this be achieved using Workbench?
If I use one of the files as the source I can output this one file by
specifying the file name.
How can the output destination feature take the name of the input
feature automatically? I would assume a batch translation could then
be used to automate this procedure for the 10 files.
Any info appreciated,
Thanks,
Annette
