Hi Garry,
Actually the "stuff behind the scenes" is ArcGIS, since we use
ArcObjects to write GeoDatabase.

On that basis FME gives you a version 8 geodatabase when ArcGIS 8.x is
installed and a version 9 when ArcGIS 9.x is installed, because that is
the version of ArcObjects available. So unfortunately there is no method
of choosing which version you want.

Regards,

Mark

Subject: [fme] ESRI personal Geodatabase version

Greetings all

I have FME for ESRI and ArcGIS 9.x installed on my computer. When
writing data to an ESRI Personal Geodatabase, I would like to save it as
the ArcGIS 8.x version, rather than 9.x (version 8 and 9 geodatabases
are different).

I know that the FME stuff behind the scenes must be there, as I could
write version 8 rather than version 9 when I had ArcGIS 8.x loaded. I
just want the ability to select which version to use.

I've had a troll through the writer documentation but couldn't spot
anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards Garry
