Hi.

We have run across the same problem a while ago.

Safe implemented support for reading custom feature classes in FME some
weeks/months ago (build 1606) (I am not sure that FME can write to custom
feature classes, but at least you should be able to read them.).
This requires that the custom feature class is licensed and registered on
the system, so this should be no problem for you.

Look in the ftp://ftp.safe.com/fme/beta/whatsnew.txt for info. Search for
class extensions.

Good luck /Nisse

mne: [fme] Geodatabase_MDB Writer: Write to custom feature class

Hello,

we use the Geodatabase_MDB-Writer (FME2004ICE3) for ArcGIS 8.3.
The following error occurs when writing to a custom featureclass (after
deleting geometric networks and relationships):

An error occurred while attempting to open an insert cursor on the feature
class 'nknHaltung'. The error number from ArcObjects is: '-2147216556'.
The error message from ArcObjects is: {Objects in this class cannot be
updated outside an edit session [nknHaltung]}.

I tried to analyze the problem. The results are
- the custom class is available on the system (entry in registry
exists) and licenced
- I don't get the error with each type of custom featureclass
- writing to the featureclass with the ArcGIS SimpleDataLoader works
- the same error occurs with "normal featureclasses" when they are part of
relationships

Does anybody know what could be a reason for this behaviour?

This custom featureclass defines some events (perform this function when
create, this when delete).
Are such events triggered when writing with FME?

Regards,
Martin
