Hi dave

I had some similar quistions about fme and raster some time back (message
#10710 http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/fme/message/10710 ), but
never got an answar, maybe i can get it now.

Right now you cant control the compression factor, but hopefully it will be
possible in the future, as the compression don by fme now, is to big.

About changing the imagen into a grayscale / bw picute that is not posible
now either, A great tool for this kind of processing is Image Alchemy ( its
a kind of fme for raster ), as it is a command line tooll it should be
possible to integrate it with fme using fme_begind/end_tcl

Does anyone have any tips for converting Raster images with FME?

My source is GeoTiff and destination is an ECW...the result is good but I
would like to have a little more flexibility over the conversion.

1) Can I control the level of compression applied? The current result
creates an ECW that is slightly too grainy for my requirements.
2) Can I convert the colour original to a black and white image within the
same conversion, I have scouted around the parameters and transformers but
haven't spotted any options yet.

Thanks. Dave.
