This is simply interesting to me!
Many a time the problem of incorrect symbology gets into dgn files when doing mass production of base maps.
Now this functionality in FME will help me to rectify the issues easily with a seed file set in with the required symbology.
Mark, does this also allow one to set the global freeze and display settings via. a seed file?
Thanks

Hi FME'ers,
I've just tested a new bit of functionality and wanted to share it with you MicroStation users.

You may know that it's possible to set a feature to use byLevel symbology by setting a format attribute; eg set igds_color_set_bylevel to yes to write a feature with a color defined by the level definition in MicroStation.

When you use a seed file with byLevel definitions set up then FME keeps those in the output.

However (and this is the good bit) - when you use a seed file without byLevel definitions FME will now create them for you, based on the first feature that gets written to a level.

So write a feature to level 1 with the followingÂ…

igds_color              4
igds_color_set_bylevel  yes
igds_style              5
igds_style_set_bylevel  yes
igds_weight             2
igds_weight_set_bylevel yes

Then level 1 will have a bylevel symbology of co4, st5, we2 which will be used by any further features written to that level with the byLevel attributes set.

Hope you find this functionality useful.

Mark
