Thanks Nisse,

I could not get your workspace to open, a few errors would pop up and crash
WorkBench when i tried to open it, But I did manage to get mine to work well
enough. I have attached it if anyone is interested.

Chris

Subject: SV: [fme] Placing text nodes on lines

Hi Chris.

I had to work on this myself, so here is my test-workspace. It creates some
lines with attributes (_length and _roadname) and puts these into
igds_multi_text objects, the name above (or to the right) the road and the
length under it.

Good luck.

Ämne: [fme] Placing text nodes on lines

Hi,

I am trying to translate a shapefile containing polylines to a DGN file and
create a text node from 2 of the attribute fields in the shapefile for each
line segment. i would like the text node to be snapped to the line segement
that it contains the information for.
So, for example, my lines are roads and the attributes are road name and
length of the road. i would like the DGN file to have a 2 line text node
that contains this information and is snapped to the segment somewhere along
it (but not at the very start or end of it).
I have looked at the workspace Mark created to make and place text nodes in
polygon, but I am not sure how to create a point along a line segement that
I could snap the text node to.

Does anyone have an suggestions on how to approach this?

Using FME Professional 2005, Build 1696

Thanks,
Chris
