Hello FMEers,

And of course, as soon as we finish with one release, we start all over
again with another one.

Betas of FME 2006 GB are now being posted to our downloads page at

        http://www.safe.com/support/downloads/index.php

and the most recent "what's new" is always at:

        ftp://ftp.safe.com/fme/beta/whatsnew.txt

You can also read the currently nominated "what's great" for the
release, as it comes together, at:

        http://www.fmepedia.com/index.php/Whats_Great

Already several very interesting bits of functionality are available in
the betas, including:

* FME is now Large Address Aware (supports the /3GB switch). This
allows FME to get access to a lot more RAM when the machine is
appropriately set up. See
http://www.fmepedia.com/index.php/Support_-_3GB_Switch for more details.

* Custom transformers now allow looping. You can end up making infinite
loops here if you're not careful, so, be careful. Basically you get a
new output type you can insert into a compound/custom transformer
definition which just sends the data back to the beginning. Note: any
similarity between the icon used and the Canadian Conservative party
logo is 100% accidental.

* Workbench links get labeled with the number of features which flowed
through them after each run. You can turn this off, but once you've had
it, you'll likely always want it. Very addictive and fun.

* Workbench toolbar is customizable

* Workbench uses the wheel to zoom (and so does the viewer)

* The viewer can now display rasters

There's more coming, so do check these links often.
