G'day

JR

This is Michelle from Perth, Western Australia. I’m a newbie to FME and this forum, hopefully I can actually help you here.

I have been working on a similar scenario. I am using a shapefile containing polygons and intend to split the dataset into 8 separate design files as well as the polygons being colour coded and sent to different levels, within each of those design files.

To achieve this I have created 2 columns in the shapefile, namely DGN and LEVEL. In the DGN field I list what number (1-8) design file each polygon should go to and in the LEVEL field I enter the level number (1-63) I want the polygon to go to (we actually have a system in place for this, it is not an arbitrary allocation of numbers). I link the source shape file to the destination design file via an AttributeFilter and ValueMapper to allocate colours based on attributes. Check out the Feature Type Properties (see image below) on the destination design file, I switch on the Fanout Feature Type and then set the Fanout Attribute to 'LEVEL', where ‘LEVEL’ is the field being read from the shape file.

Hopefully this has been of some help.

Thank you for your time.

Have a nice day!

Regards

Subject: [fme] Writing DGN Levels from Shape

Hello,

I'd like to group attributes from a single field in a shapefile and

have the resulting 'grouped' attributes write to different levels in

the output design file.  Any suggestions - I've not met with success.
