Hi Daniel, For ArcSDE reading and writing we make use of the ESRI ArcSDE C API. I wonder if there is something in there that is not compatible with Linux (Suse)? Any ESRI experts know?
FME itself is known to work with Linux - see http://tinyurl.com/lorvw - but not necessarily with Suse.
