I may be missing something obvious but how can opening parameters be
used as attributes in a translation?

We have microstation .DGN files to be translated into SHAPE files with
a couple of variable desired attributes not specified in the .DGN.
These can be specified by an ATTRIBUTECREATOR transform in the
translation pane but that means the .fmw would need to be edited for
every new file/destination needed.
It was easy enough to publish new paraneters by inserting a GUI TEXT
<macroname> <label> in the header so that the values for the
unspecified attributes can be given at run time via PROMPT AND RUN
TRANSLATION.
But how can I access the macros that are set from within the
translation???
These published parameters appear in the navigation pane as follows
    <prompt/label> <default_value> [<macroname_IGDS>]
ex. "Cutting Permit? 7Q [apermit_IGDS]
and it needs to be assigned to the new attribute PERMIT in the
translation.
