I know of several users who do this. It's a good idea. Sometimes they
use MapInfo (TAB or mif/mid) instead of FFS since they're fairly
complete formats - and that would help with this problem too.

There's a comment in the help that says... "Schema information may or
may not be stored explicitly in FFS files, depending on the options
given when it was written"... so I think this must be the problem.

It sounds like the OUTPUT_NO_SCHEMA option is set to yes. I think
changing that will be more likely to work than STRICT_SCHEMA. The ease
of setting this will depend on if you are using Smallworld v3 or v4,
and Mapping files or Workspaces?

You could use the AttributeExposer transformer. It will do what you
need, but requires entering the attribute names manually. Better to
get the attributes working properly - but in the meantime this may be
a helpful workaround.
