Traditionally, CAD doesn't really have attributes in the GIS sense... Based on our experience you have two options:
1. Check 'Extended entity data' in the 'settings' dialog (when you load the dataset in) - this means all the attributes can be accessed through one or both of the LIST and ID commands in AutoCAD (in my experience very few people know how to use those commands!)
2. Use Workbench, routing the feature directly into the output AND through a LabelPointReplacer into the output - that way you can label features based on one of the attributes.
I've got a feeling the latest (or next?) version of AutoCRUD has better attribute support, but I'm not entirely clear on how it can be used...
That said, if there are any other alternatives, please let me know, because this is a stumbling block we come up against every other day!
Hope this helps,
Roland.

How do you, and what are the proper settings, to convert a Shape file, including its *.dbf attributes to AutoCad *.dwg/*.dxf? In short, I can convert the geometry but how do I get the attributes into AutoCad??/
