For the benefit of all I have discovered the correct syntax (or at least one way) to call a stored procedure. I found it here http://www.cab.u-szeged.hu/local/doc/oratcl/oratcl.html. I don't know whose site it is or I would acknowledge them here. I am nevertheless very grateful.
Referring to the script example in my previous post
#=====================THIS FAILS===========================================
#set sql "EXEC CHI_TWO.MYTEST"
#if [catch {orasql $statementHandle $sql} ora_error] {
#puts stderr "$program: $ora_error"
#}
#=====================THIS WORKS===========================================
if [catch {oraplexec $statementHandle {
begin
MYTEST;
end;
}
} ora_error] {
puts stderr "$program: $ora_error"
}
