Hi FME'ers,
Just wanted to post a message about some of the new features in the
FME2007 betas that you may not be aware of, since they don't all
appears in the What's New list. Hoping you find this info useful...

1) Incomplete Transformers - all transformers with incomplete settings
(a red icon) will appear in a new section in the navigation pane.
Transformers that rely on a specific attribute to fill a setting will
automatically turn red if that attribute is removed. Incomplete
transformers won't stop a workspace running if they aren't connected
to anything. Should all help in developing large workspaces.

2) New transformers - FeatureHolder: Store features until they all
arrive, then release them in order. Useful for manipulating feature
order. RasterReader: Accept an attribute as source. The attribute
contains the name of a raster dataset that is then read (similar to
OracleQuerier). Rasterizer. CurveFitter. Creator: Replaces existing
2dCreators. ParameterFetcher: Get the value of a parameter (macro) and
pass it into an attribute. See fmepedia for an example of how to use
the ParameterFetcher. Hopefully this will be the start for creating
custom parameters - such as picklists - using them in complex
transformers and sharing them amongst workspaces.

3) Advanced Workspace Settings - Reprojection Engine: Choose which
software to use for reprojection. Startup/Shutdown Scripts: Run TCL or
Python scripts before or after a workspace. Max Features in Memory:
Manage FME's balance between memory use and disk caching (I think!?)

4) Misc Stuff - Ability to update source feature types when underlying
dataset schema changes. Overview Window in Workbench. TCL/Python
editor dialog. Also - hopefully coming soon - "rejected" features
causing a warning or error in the log to get written to an FFS "log"
dataset.

...and that's just Workbench and doesn't include new formats like
GeoRSS or Lidar; the rich geometry model and all the updated
writers/transformers; the Spatial ETL Server etc etc

Phew - didn't think this list would be so long. As always get the
latest info at http://www.fmepedia.com/index.php/Whats_Great
