Normally this would not be necessary because any data you read will
have had the duplicate vertices removed as it was read --
presumably you are making the features somehow after a reader and what
the duplicates removed?
If that is the case, another trick you could use is the
CoordinateRounder with a very large amount of precision -- the
CoordinateRounder removes any duplicate vertices that are made as a
result of the rounding -- if you choose a HIGH precision, lots of
places of precision, you won't change your data but it will still
remove any duplicates.
