I loaded this shapefile to a personal Geodatabase and read it from
there, which works fine. Still not sure why it would not read those
fields from shapefile, but I did notice when I opened the dbf in Excel
that the fields that did not get read all had the same name
(SEG_DESC_1).

Subject: [fme] shapefile field names not loading
Hello,
I am having some trouble with field names loading from a source
shapefile. The shapefile is an export of a Geomedia SQL Server feature
class. The original field names are greater than the 10 character
maximum so are being modified during the export process. I'm trying to
use FME workbench to rename the fields to something more meaningful that
what is assigned during the export process. When I open the shapefile in
FME workbench not all the original fields are shown, though I can see
them fine in ArcCatalog. The renaming results in names like SEG_DESC_1,
SEG_DESC_2..., SEG_DESC_9. But where it starts renaming SEG_DES_10,
SEG_DES_11, etc. these are not shown. So, does anyone have any idea how
to make these show up in FME.
Thanks,
