Hello Sheila, Welcome to the world of FME and the Kingdom of Safe. Many a time a simple format A to format B translation does not suffice interoperability requirements depending on the nature of data being handled. This could be true in your case. There could be some geometry types, which may or may not be supported automatically (FME Univeral Translator is good for a Simple Format A to Format B). You may need to try with FME Workbench as well. Could you be a little explicit on what type of geometries you have in the AutoCAD Civil 3D file, what version etc.? About the missing text from CAD to Shape files, Shape files do not support text elements directly and they can be only as point elements withe text string as one of the attributes for displaying text as labels.
