Hi,
I think this might actually be straightforward to do. Use the
LineJoiner with the list setting turned on (ie enter a name for a
list). This will create a single feature with a list of the features
that made up the group. Then use a ListElementCounter. This will count
the elements in the list, in effect giving a count of line features in
the group.

Provided that only like features are topologically connected, and
nothing else is, this will give the right answer.

To get the count back on the original features, use a FeatureMerger.
You may also have to create an ID number on the source features to use
in the merge.

Hope this helps

Mark
