Yes, as Dale has rightly pointed out through Flavio Hendry's message, that such
events are more important than those arcs and stuffs, I deal everyday through
FME.

Joining you as a fellow FME-er in the condolence and Safe's tribute to Axel
Axmann.

I have personally heard a lot about Axel Axmann and our company was
interacting with his sometime back.

Dale, would like to point the link to the correct one( a small typo in the
original message from you):
  http://spatial-etl.blogspot.com/2007/03/in-memoriam-di-axel-axmann.html

There was a full stop at the end in the link in your message to FME-rs and
looks like neither the url liked it nor Axel Axmann deserves a full stop in his
contribution to FME and Safe Software ( I was greatly moved at the contribution
to Safe by Axel Axmann from Dale's review of his meeting and the blog post)

We should all rather accept that Axel Axmann was the axle to FME successfully
rolling out these years.

          Hello FMEers,

It's with sorrow that I write to inform you that a long time FMEer and
contributor to our community passed away last week. Axel Axmann was an amazing
individual in many many ways, and played an important role in the history of
Safe and of FME. I was looking through my correspondence with him yesterday and
came across the first note he'd ever sent us 8 years ago. In it he'd indicated
that he'd been building something like FME for many years, and had just come
across our magazine advertisement, evaluated FME, and had decided to shelf the
development of his own product and start working with FME instead -- and thus
began a long and productive friendship and partnership.

You can read more about our memories of Axel and the impact he had on Safe
(anyone attending our FME UC here in Vancouver was a beneficiary of some of
that) on our blog at
http://spatial-etl.blogspot.com/2007/03/in-memoriam-di-axel-axmann.html.

I think another long time friend and FMEer, Flavio Hendry, put it well when he
told me recently that events such as this serve as reminders "that there are
far more important things in life than arcs & stuff we deal with daily." Worth
thinking about...

Dale
