Hello Arno,

If what is happening is that you're translating to Geodatabase (or most any 
database), then I'd expect the right hand side of workspace to have these 
truncated names, because we've got some Tcl in our metafile directory that does 
this for database formats.  I'd expect the left hand side, the autocad side, to 
be untouched.

Now, it may be that we are trimming them too tight and that the database in 
question can now support longer names, and I'd like to know that and then we 
can fix it.

If this is not what you are seeing, then please let us know as well -- ideally, 
send the workspace and the dwg file to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and we'll look more 
closely.
