Hi Henrik. I am not 100% sure, but I think the 2 answers are: 1. FME does not need that information, happily it just puts any string in the mapinfo_custom_filename attribute and rely on yo that the string is a valid filename and that any aplication that opens the mapinfo-file to know where the CustSymb directory is. 2. Yes, you can generate custom symbols with an FME-licens only. No need for Mapinfo to be installed. Good luck. /Nisse

I set some mapinfo attributes: @SupplyAttributes(mapinfo_symbol_filename,j.bmp,\ mapinfo_symbol_size,11,\ mapinfo_symbol_style,1,\ mapinfo_type,mapinfo_custom_point where "mapinfo_symbol_filename,j.bmp" is the file I would like to use. I have two questions / problems: 1. How does FME know where to find the Mapinfo CustSymb-directory? (C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\ApplicationData\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\750\CustSymb ) 2. On a machine where Mapinfo isnt installed, can I supply a custom symbol at all? Any suggestions?
