That's very cool Mark...

As an add-on to this, it might be a good idea to add support for a
very-large image format for output.  Something like PCIDSK (.pix) format
would be nice...  And I'm hopeful that GeoTIFF will have large (>4GB)
support some time this year....

I love these technical bulletins BTW; they allow early insight into new
functions that is really useful.  It would be great if these were
generated for all new features, such as SSIS extension, KML
improvements, etc.  They could also stand more public exposure via the
web site...

I wonder how many folks out there don't even know that FME supports
raster ops?
