That's a very interesting one. I know we're aiming to get PDF writing into FME2008, but I don't think we have any plans for PDF reading. I'm not quite sure what the features you read from it would look like.
I guess we'll use an API of some sort to do the writing, so if it also includes a facility to read data then we could do something with it. I like the LaudonTech example, if for no other reason than Port Moody is where I live! I'm thinking that to do the same thing - and who knows, this might be how they work it anyway - you could open the PDF and use File > Print to write it to a TIFF file (may need to download a TIFF printer driver). Then you can read the TIFF with FME Workbench, georeference it, and then write to KMZ format. Hope that helps.
