Your problem sounds like a datum mismatch. Hans' reply was correct, assuming your lat/long was from GPS capture. You will still need to apply the appropriate datum transformation to bring the data into your country map coordinate system. FME will do this automatically if you specify the correct projection for your county map. Regards Bruce. Bruce Harold Geographic Information Solutions <http://www.gis.co.nz> www.gis.co.nz Ph. Here is my dilema. We are getting lat/long values from the GIS vendor that we'd like to plug into FME and report against. We can bring the points in just find and line 'em up; however, when we overlay them on top of the county map (where we know the drivers have been driving), the points are no where close to our area. Some discussions revealed that the vendor is providing us lat / long values that have no projection associated with them. We know what projection we'd like to get to, but don't have an idea of how we can manipulate the lat/long values we get from the vendor to arrive at lat/longs that are appropriate for our projection. This calculation can be performed; bringing both data sets into ArcMap, for example, provides a genuine map via some black boxed functionality, however, for a variety of reasons we need to operate in the FME environment. Can anyone give me some guidance on how we can translate non 'projected' lat / long values into their appropriately projected values for import? The end goal must be to automate this process, so ideally this would be in the form of a calculation or a toolset that can be initiated without manual button clicks. Thanks in advance! brian
