Hey folks,

I am fairly new to FME and have a tough question. I have a PLSS
sections grid, and I am trying to quarter the grid into quarter-
Quarters. I have read the other posts, but they don't seem have any
clear answer.

Below is what I would like the end result to look like. (including
the labels)

NWNW NENW NWNE NENE

SWNW SENW SWNE SENE

NWSW NESW NWSE NESW

SWSW SESW SWSE SESE

Currently I have an ArcView 3.3 quartering tool that will do this
for me. This has worked very well, but I would like too no longer
rely on the 2GB shapefile it created for my intersecting sections.

I would like the ability too compare a legal description for a
parcel of land to the spatial location on the grid. (I.E. If the
legal says NENE and it is mapped in the SENE then it would fail a
tester.) So, if the legal is sitting on a section, I want only that
section to be quartered.

I have this currently working very well with the shapefile, however
the process takes two hours to run because of the 2.3 million
features in my shapefile. I have no problems doing everything else
in FME, but I can't seem to get this quartering idea off the ground.

Thanks,

Joshua Baker
