Hi, I want to batch clip from an SDE. Can FME do this?
The client-side ArcObject Python scripts that I often use to batch clip will not work on an SDE. By "batch clip" I mean loop through the feature classes (with Python) and clip them in one swoop. To reiterate, I tried clipping my SDE with a Python/ArcObject batch clip script. It did not work, and I have come to find out is not possible. Yes, such a script works well on local workspaces, but it's a "no go" on the SDE. This SDE's has thousands of features, big areas - statewide scale - and it takes hours to process. I have only read-only access to this SDE, OK because I only want to batch clip from it. I have FME on my work station and I wonder if it can interface with the SDE or be called in a script to clip each feature via a shape file clipper and output clipped features to a workspace?
