Hello all,

Total FileMaker newbie here. I recently upgraded one of our users from
Windows 2000 running FMP 5 to Windows XP running FMP 7. He has a database
with a fair amount of scripting in it. All the work on the database was
done by someone who worked here a few years before I started, so I know less
than a little bit about what's happening behind the interface.

One of the functions he used to be able to use without a problem was to
e-mail a contact. Since the upgrade, the button that controls the e-mail
function now opens a "Windows Messaging Wizard" that eventually fails with
a DLL error and suggests opening the Mail applet under Control Panel. It
sounds like FM isn't sure what to use as the default application for Mail.
The user has the latest version of Eudora installed and configured for
e-mail. Eudora is even listed by IE as the default application for e-mail.

Help suggested checking the win.ini file for a [Mail] section. Much to my
surprise, one still exists in the Windows directory and it has a [Mail]
section but not much in it. Just this,

[Mail]
MAPI=1
MAPIX=1

On my system this same file has this in [Mail]

[Mail]
MAPI=1
CMC=1
CMCDLLNAME=mapi.dll
CMCDLLNAME32=mapi32.dll
MAPIX=1
MAPIXVER=1.0.0.1
OLEMessaging=1

Any ideas about what is required to make the e-mail function work again
under the new setup?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Laurie
