Dear experts
I sincerely need help and I am qute desperate. We ported a solution from FM6 to FM7, the last month we streamlined the calculations and the scripts so everything runs fine. However, we still have the multiple files approach whcih we want to keep in the foreseeable future. But I have a strange performance problem. Basically one file is a billing database. each record is an invoice which holds in a portal multiple items from another file. There are several buttons for the user which create new itemes in the related file according to some rules an calculations and show it in the portal. I bechmarked on particular set of 5 items. Running FM7 locally it takes a little more than one second to generate all 5 items. However on a FM server 7 (G4 800MHz, 1.25 GB RAM) it takes 18-20 seconds to do the same. I took a fast server (dual 2GHz G5 with 2.5 GB RAM) -> still 17 seconds. I connected with a very fast client (also dual 2GHz G5 with 2.5 GB RAM) -> 9 seconds but still very sloow. With an ordinary iMac G5 as a client it also takes 20 seconds. We streamlined all calculations that there is not much to calculate an in fact locally it runs very fast. Why is the server performance so extremely much slower. We try to troubleshoot this since weeks and don't find a solution. Do you have any ideas?
Thank you very much
Pascal
