We do a bit of IDS testing for our clients just by setting up an XP SP2 VM, and 
then
running ms08_067 through them with various covertness settings. Likewise you 
can spam
emails at yourself with clientsides in them to see if they are detected...I 
assume
you're looking for more than that?
