The War within Islam
ONE GOD, ONE FAITH, ONE HUMANITY; THEN WHY ARE OUR ULEMA SO INTOLERANT?
Do you believe in One God?
Do you believe in all the Prophets as the prophets sent by the One and the
same God?
Do you believe in all the revelations as revelations from the same God?
Do you believe in all mankind being the creation of the same God?
Do you believe in a peaceful world, coexistence and a common humanity?
THEN WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH OUR FANATIC, EXTRIMIST AND INTOLERANT
RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS?
Why do they want to force their interpretation on others?
Why do they want to be so intolerant and show arrogance by not submitting
themselves to the will of Allah and trying to portray Islam into an
exclusivist faith by using the term ‘Muslim’ for themselves and ‘kafir’ for

Pakistani surrender to Taliban is not justified by ‘quick justice’
Increasingly, Mr Zardari resembles a man with a begging bowl in one hand,
and a gun in the other pointed at his own head. The reality is that for
decades, Pakistan has sacrificed the bulk of its resources to support a vast
defence apparatus it could ill afford. The extremist menace that threatens
to destroy Pakistan was largely a creation of its own military
establishment. And now that Pakistanis need the Army to defend them, they
find it is not up to the task.
Pakistan needs to face up to the fact that a lack of money is not the
problem. What it really needs is the political will to fight the monster
confronting the country today. Despite the concern of millions of
Pakistanis, a vocal section of the establishment and the media are either in
denial, or are cheering on the militants. Some have argued that the deal
signed recently in Swat is actually good for the people. -- Irfan Husain

Now that Kasuri and Coll have spilt the beans, the Indian government should
organise an education campaign, especially among US think tanks, that a
framework for a Kashmiri settlement already exists. And as US president
Barack Obama pointed out, Pakistan does not have to worry about any threat
from its eastern border; its threats are from within. But the Pakistani
army's leadership is yet to be convinced that Taliban is a threat and not an
