*Assalaamu alaykum,*

*I had received a request from a friend to give an effective response to
Sina's challenge. Sina is an apostate, and he has taken upon himself the
task of slandering Islam. The Challenge consists of numerous allegations,
but here I have taken up his first allegation to respond to. Click
here<http://www.faithfreedom.org/challenge/narcissist.htm>to refer to
his full article making that allegation. Herein below I give my
comments in green font on the specific Qur'aanic quotations he cites as
supporting his allegations (in black font)*

Apart from thinking he was the anointed messenger of God and the Seal of
the Prophets, (Q.33:40)

The problem with Sina is that he is an incorrigible and stubborn
non-believer. He does not believe in God, and he does not believe in anyone
being anointed a messenger of God. Verse 33.40 of the Qur’aan, declaring
Muhammad to be the Messenger of God and the Seal of the Prophets, was meant
only for the believers – not for non-believers like Sina. His lack of faith
made him think that it was all a narcissist thought of Muhammad himself.
Sina fails to understand that he himself is a narcissist. He believes that
the millions, who have affirmed their faith in Muhammad being what the above
Verse declares him to be, are all fools, and that he is a wise one to leave
the company of such fools.

Muhammad regarded himself as *Khayru-l-Khalq* Best of Creation, an
excellent
example, (Q.33:21)

Verse 33.21 states: You certainly have, in the Messenger of Allah, an
excellent example for the one who seeks Allah and the Hereafter and who
remembers Allah much.

No question then that for a narcissist like Sina, who seeks neither Allah
nor the Hereafter and does not ever remember Him, Muhammad can ever be the
excellent example. For thirteen long years, Muhammad bore the severest
opposition from his own people to stand firmly on the principles he
advocated. He then, in the next ten years, united the warring and
non-descript Arab tribes into the most potent force that in course of time
influenced the history of the entire mankind. It is the excellent example of
such a man that the said Verse cites. How can a narcissist like Sina
understand it?

and explicitly or implicitly hinted to be exalted above other prophets in
degrees. (Q.2:253)

The narcissist in Sina makes him use Muhammad as a mirror to look at his
(Sina’s) own image and think it is Muhammad’s. For, there is nothing in
Verse 2.253 for Muhammad to hint, explicitly or implicitly, that he is
exalted above others in rank. The Verse, on the other hand, speaks of some
aspects in which other Prophets/Messengers were exalted above Muhammad. And
the Qur’aan elsewhere (in Verse 4.152) does implicitly or explicitly
prohibit believers from distinguishing between any of the Messengers. The
Qur’aanic Verses are provably divine, but the stubborn *kufr* in Sina makes
him think that these were authored by Muhammad.

He claimed to be the preferred one, (Q.17:55)

The Verse 17.55 simply says that some of the Prophets have been favoured
over others in certain respects. The favour that this Verse alludes to is
the bestowal of divine books. Not all the Prophets had been favoured thus.
The Prophet mentioned here as one of those favoured thus is David who had
been given *Zaboor* (The Psalms). Muhammad was only one of the many other
Prophets who were thus preferred. But Sina mischievously twisted the meaning
of the Verse to make it appear as if Muhammad was the only one preferred
over all others in bestowal of a divine book. In the divine scheme of things
it was not necessary for every Prophet to have had a distinct divine book.
Most of them had been sent just to remind people of the earlier still
uncontaminated divine Message in the prehistoric age when it was not
possible for everyone to have a copy for one’s own use. Sina’s overpowering
anxiety to show Muhammad in bad light made him, wittingly or unwittingly,
lose sight of this historic perspective.

to have been sent as a Mercy to the worlds, (Q.21:107)

Everything that Allah has sent down for mankind is a mercy from Him without
which human life would be difficult – nay, impossible - on the earth. Allah
favoured human beings with a high level of intellect – a mercy from Him. All
the Prophets/Messengers of Allah sent for guidance of mankind are mercies
from Allah. The very fact that Sina has been created by Allah as a human
being is a mercy from Him, giving Sina a chance to live an everlasting good
life in the Hereafter. But, it seems, he is bent on not only wasting that
chance, but utilising it for preparing for himself an everlasting extremely
tortuous life in Hell. And, as part of this foolish preparation, he is
spreading an obvious falsehood among the people that the Verse 21.107 is not
divine, but fabricated by Muhammad to give himself a megalomaniac status.
There is nothing in the Verse to lend support to this false allegation. The
Verse only reiterates that Muhammad has been sent as a mercy. But he is not
the only mercy sent by Allah; there are mercies galore bestowed by Him to
all the worlds. This allegation therefore proves nothing but that Sina
himself is an egoist falsely and irrationally attributing his own egoism to
Muhammad (peace be upon him).

to have been risen to a praised estate, (Q.17:79) a station which he said
none but he would receive and this is the Station of Intercession at the
right hand of the Almighty next to his Glorious Throne. In other words, he
would be the person who would advise God as to who should he sent to Hell
and who should be admitted to Heaven.

Verse 17.79 asks Prophet Muhammad to keep awake during parts of the night
studying the Qur’aan so that the Lord raises him to an honourable position.
History is witness to the fact that Muhammad had indeed been raised to an
eminent station among his fellow human beings. He had revolutionised entire
mankind. To attain to that high position, Muhammad had to put in extra
efforts. That was what he was asked to do in the above Verse. He had to be
well-versed in the Qur’aan, the work of propagating which was assigned to
him. The rest of what Sina states above are just fictitious. The Verse – or
any other Qur’aanic Verse, for that matter – lends no support at all to
anything he has mischievously added here. Allah has already given Muhammad,
in truth, a very high position in the history of mankind. And Sina cannot
bring him down with his falsehoods.

These are just some of Muhammads megalomaniac claims about his own lofty
station, reported in the Quran.

As shown herein above, none of the Qur’aanic quotes are even remotely
suggestive of any megalomaniac claims by Muhammad. Their patently false and
irrational interpretation by Sina does only reflect his (Sina’s) sick and
perverse mind, bent upon denigrating Muhammad falsely and thus preparing for
his own abode in Hell.

The following two verses express vividly Muhammads sense of self
importanceand grandiosity.

Truly, Allh and His angels send praise and blessings [forever] upon the
Prophet. O you who believe! Praise and bless the Prophet with utmost laud
and blessing. (Q.33:56)

In order that you (O men) may believe in Allh and His Messenger, that you
may assist and honor Him, and celebrate His praise morning and evening.
(Q.48:9)

Verse 33.56 states that Allah and His angels send blessings upon the
Prophet. The words ‘praise’ and ‘[forever]’ above are Sina’s mischievous
interpolations to support his false charge that Muhammad had an undue sense
of self importance and grandiosity. A few Verses earlier in the same Chapter
33, Verse 43 tells us that Allah and His angels send blessings on the
believers. So, what is so unique about Muhammad getting the blessings?
Without divine blessings, nothing can sustain on earth. And what’s wrong in
the believers being asked to send blessings on the Prophet? Blessings from
the believers mean nothing but wishing the Prophet well and praying to Allah
for the success of his mission of propagating Islam among mankind. But the
sick mind of Sina makes him see in this the mirage of Muhammad’s ‘sense of
self importance and grandiosity!’

Verse 48.9 is in continuation of Verse 48.8, which tells us that Muhammad
had been sent as a witness, a bringer of glad tidings and a warner. And
Verse 48.9 gives us the purpose for sending Muhammad as such: to inculcate
belief in Allah and His Messenger, to garner support for the divinely
approved way of life (Islam) for mankind, to educate people on the need to
hold the Lord of the universe in the highest esteem and honour and to sing
His praises morning and evening. An incorrigible *kafir* like Sina won’t
understand this at all. He therefore irrationally quotes this Verse also as
depicting Muhammad’s ‘sense of self importance and grandiosity!’ Let him be
content with his irrationality till he gets thrown into Hell-fire. We should
not allow ourselves to be drawn by him into that irrationality.

He was so impressed with himself, that he put the following words in the
mouth of his sock puppet deity:

And you (stand) on an exalted standard of character (Q.68:4) and are a
lamp with spreading light. (Q.33:46)

Here, let us first consider Verse 68.4. This Chapter 68 of the Qur’aan
contains Verses that were some of the very first revealed to the Prophet.
Even before he was divinely proclaimed a prophet, he was known as
*Ameen*(the trustworthy) among the people. He had lived for 40 years
among them and
had proved himself to be of an exceptionally good character in the generally
corrupt social atmosphere then. But when he started proclaiming the
monotheistic principles of Islam to his polytheist people, they called him
mad. Imagine the condition of a man who was thus being denigrated day in day
out by almost the entire populace including his own close relatives! It was
in such a situation that Allah Almighty reassured the Prophet through the
above Verse, among others in that Qur’aanic Chapter, that he was indeed of
an exalted character. I am not saying this to Sina – he is beyond reform. I
am saying this to Muslims lest they get unduly influenced by the canards
being spread by that *kafir*.

Now, about Verse 33.46. Like Verse 48.9 referred to above, this Verse too is
in continuation of the Verse preceding it. Verse 33.45 also tells us that
the Prophet was sent as witness, giver of glad tidings and warner, and Verse
33.46 mentions two other capacities in which he was sent, viz., as one who
invites people to Allah by His leave and as a lamp spreading light. History
is witness to the fact that Muhammad did indeed serve as a lamp enlightening
a nondescript tribal people that in turn became torch-bearers, in all
fields, for the entire world. But for the megalomaniac Sina historical facts
have no meaning. For him, the falsehoods he himself spreads are the truth,
and nothing but the truth. The despicable *kafir* denigrates not only
Muhammad, but also his (Sina’s) own Creator - who created him out of nothing
- by calling Him Muhammad’s ‘stock puppet deity’.

Sina goes on to quote from the *ahaadeeth* in his relentless attempts at
slandering the exemplary character of Muhammad, but I refrain from
commenting thereon as I do not consider *ahaadeeth *to be an unquestionably
authentic source of Islam.
