Ubayy ibne-Kaab Radiyallahu anhu narrates that once the Mushrikin (polytheists) said to Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wasallam:
O Muhammad! What is the lineage of your Rabb? Thereupon Allah Subhanahu wa Ta-ala, sent down (Surah Ikhlas): *Qul huwal lahu ahad. Allah hus-samad. Lam yalid walam yulad. Walam yakul-lahu Kufuwan ahad.* “Say (O Muhammad)! He is Allah, The One. Allah, the Self-Sufficient upon Whom all depend.
