The Islamic Society of Hanover Letter Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,
Peace be upon you (Assallamu Alaikom), may Allah guide you to his right path. The Islamic Society of Hanover was established in 2005 when the community saw the need for a location. Today we gather above an office using two rooms that can accommodate approximately 30 people. This location was viewed as temporary until such time we could secure a permanent site. The city of Hanover is located 50 miles west of Baltimore, Maryland in York County, Pennsylvania. The Muslim community in Hanover has grown to approximately 50 families from several countries. Presently, in addition to the five-daily prayers and Jummaah prayers, we offer Islamic Classes, Halaqah and Dawah program for the community at large. We have been required to make arrangements for Tarawih and Iftar during Ramadan, as well as Eid Prayers and other community events in various locations that the community rents, due to the small size of our current facility. Our objective is to purchase a church that recently has come up for a sale in Hanover, Pennsylvania. We request help in trying to achieve that goal. Obtaining this property will enable us to expand our programs. The purchase price for this building is $285,000. The building shows great potential and should satisfy the needs of the community for years to come.
