Dear Lydia, Many thanks for sharing this. This visualization is indeed very interesting -it would indeed make sense to use it for issues collecting or comparing standards on different topics.
I am looking forward to seeing the new website! Andrea ---------------------------------------------------------- Andrea M. The idea would be to do one when a question or substantive query arises, that is likely that people will want to refer back to again. It wouldn?t be for all exchanges, but part of the idea would be to stimulate debate. One way of doing it would be to create a map when people request that a certain issue is presented like this. At the moment it is still up for debate, so thanks for your response! Regards Lydia Eszter Filippinyi escribi?: Dear Lydia and AIE Team, I am not sure how hard or not is to make this map for every question posted on FOIANet, but I like it very much! It's a great visual tool, and I like to see all answers organized on the side and then also clicking on the countries getting the full answer. Are you planning to show all communication of FOIAnet in this way, or just selected questions/ answers? In case this is too complicated, just an easily navegable archive of questions/answers would be fantastic! Good luck with the rest of the work and looking very much forward to see the new site! Hugs, Eszter -----Original Message----- From: foianet-bounces at foiadvocates.info [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lydia Medland Sent: Tuesday, April 14, 2009 6:08 PM To: foianet at foiadvocates.info Subject: [foianet] An issue-based map of FOIAnet expertise Dear FOIA advocates, As you know we are soon to launch a new website for the FOIA net. As part of this website we have been thinking how best to present the information shared and generated by members of the FOIAnet community over areas of particular current relevance. Taking the last question posted on the FOIA net we have therefore tested the idea of mapping the voices of experience and expertise from around the world. You can see the result here: http://maps.google.es/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=es&msa=0&ll=25.165173,-8.4375&spn=139.548434,360&z=2&msid=102933320926342466891.00046781ffeefb88a8b50 (Thank you for these responses included in the map, they are very useful to our current work. Also feel free to send us any more follow-ups to this question about salaries of public officials, they will be appreciated.) I would really like to hear if you you like the map and think it is a useful tool. Also let me know if there are any other past conversations that you would like to see plotted or if you have any similar ideas. Perhaps more importantly it is also important that we hear any concerns, for example, do you think that it is appropriate to have FOIA net conversations featured in this public way? Thanks for your time and do e-mail me reactions! We are working hard on getting the website up very soon, please bear with us in the mean time!
