There were several questions that I said I'd research -- here are some answers:
(1) Salutations -- there is no built-in salutation field. As a workaround for now, you can create a user defined-one in the program settings. Click on the little wrench icon, then "Modify settings." Scroll down through the items on the left until you find "userfieldname," select it, and type "salutation" (without quotes) in the right-hand box, then click on the "Back to ODB" button. (There is also a "userfieldproperties" setting -- I will find out what this does.)
When you restart ODB, there should be a salutation box on the record editing screen. Salutations will not appear in the pre-defined ODB reports, but you can se them by doing an extended export of the records you want to use, then using the export file as the data source for a mail merge (e.g. in Word). To do an extended export you need to enable code changes -- click on the little wrench, then "Enable code changes," then click on the Export button.
(2) Contribution totals in reports -- to get a report with contribution totals, click on Select Records, then choose "donations" as your search type, define your search, and do it. The search results will display, with a total. Clicking on the"Save Donation Report" button will save it as a text file, which you can put into Word or Excel to make it pretty.
(3) Importing donation records -- Again, you first need to Enable Code Changes. Then when you click on the Import button the option to import donations will appear.
