I recently read the science fiction book _Nexus_ by Ramez Naam, and thought
people on this list might enjoy it as well.

The basic premise is a drug is invented which allowers the taker to install
an operating system in their own brain, and through that both run programs
on their body as well as being able to communicate mind-to-mind with other
takers.

The book explores the possibilities of a tool like this being used for
empathy alongside the possibility of a new level of mental coercion.
International espionage ensues.

I don't know if this is too off topic for this list, but it struck me as a
fun and interesting trek through the one day maybe possibilities of tight
human-computer integration.
