Of course, therefore I took care to mention that I can see it with the naked eye from 1 metre distance from my monitor. But the magnifying clearly shows that subpixel hinting has been used and what colours have been used. I prefer sharp byte code hinting with gray-scale antialiasing. I just used "DejaVu Sans Mono" with autohint=false, hintstyle=hintfull and rgba=rgb in my terminal for a while, I don’t like it, I clearly see the colour fringes, it quickly annoys me. I really prefer gray-scale anti-aliasing, at least with the current implementation of subpixel hinting in freetype 2.4.8. Maybe the new implementation is better, I did not yet test it.
