Hmm, maybe try another sans serif font, like Helvetica or Arial, and
see if the problem persists...

Please retest with dejavu, and report any problem you are still seeing.
This is exactly the kind of small fixes they've been doing. Nowadays I
don't really see the point of using Vera instead of dejavu
