Fcpackage is the combination of fontconfig, Xft, Xft1 and Xrender. It
provides a complete replacement for the XFree86 4.2 version of Xft; Xft1
provides an ABI-compatible library using fontconfig for existing
applications, while Xft provides a mostly API-compatible library when
compiling new applications.
These libraries are nearing release, the third release candidate has been
in testing for about a week and has uncovered only minor problems.
I plan on cutting the first release (numbered 2.0 to match the Xft
version) tomorrow unless I hear that people are having problems with it.
If you want to give the proposed release a try, please download the
fourth release candidate from:
http://keithp/com/fonts/pub/fcpackage.rc4.tar.gz
The intent is to retag the tree and release precisely the same bits as
fcpackage 2.0.
