As I said in another message, this is just the information I was looking for.  
However, I do have a suggestion to help others in the future:

Add a bit more information to the fc-list.man and to the response to "--help" 
to describe this capability.  You also need to mention that using "-" for the 
font name will result in all fonts being listed.  This is helpful when you 
want to use "family style file" but want to list all fonts.
