This patch will come in two steps: Step 1: Replaces Font autoconfiguration to use URL instead of Font. This patch is independent from the xmlgraphics-commons part and could (theoretically) be applied before the 0.94 release. Step 2: Will use the resource support from xmlgraphics, and will therefore have to be delayed until after the release.
