your patch does improve performance for the FOP-2314 example (around 13% faster
from my measurements); however, from my tests, it has no measurable impact in
the "tiger" example (example/fo/svg/embedding.fo) or in the example from
FOP-1769. can you provide another example that is not a variation of the first
that runs faster with your proposed change? that would make the patch more
compelling.
