I may be wrong but I think even in the second example you have the same issue. In the second row there are 2 cells ( the first cell in the table that spans two rows and and one empty cell). If you add another fo :table- colum element or you comment them out entirely, you do not get an error (at least with fop-trunk). Thanasis
