Yeah, that's a deficiency in the documentation right now. May I point you to the class org.apache.fop.apps.AWTStarter.java for the moment? It should give you at least some pointers how this would be done. I'm trying to find some time to come up with an example similar to the Example*2*.java. But that'll take a few days.
