Since Katello does not have builds for Fedora and it's extra work and I believe not many users use such an old Fedora systems for productions (there's CentOS of course), I am all for dropping it completely. We are loosing the flexibility of being "on track" with what's next for CentOS on the other hand but I think it is worth it. Let's see what Greg comes up with. If we don't have the numbers, maybe blessing from our community in form of poll or something could help us to decide as well.
Mirek and Jakub are working on getting Copr builds up and running for us and they were also trying to build against Fedora 26 but they hit several issues as well, this should unblock them.
