As some of you know, Foresight is currently dependent on rBuilder to
build anaconda images. Because Foresight is a rolling release with
regular updates, updating install images was perhaps lower priority,
but also, rBuilder quit working for building Foresight images quite
some time ago, which really got in the way of posting new images.

This week, I fixed our rBuilder instance to be able to build Foresight
install images again, and we built images of fl:2-devel for gnome,
gnome development, xfce, and lxde environments.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/foresightlinux/files/fl%402-devel/2.5.3%2B2013.03.26/

Next week, we intend to build and post images for fl:2-qa.

Note: these images still use an older version of anaconda and an older
kernel, so some new hardware is still not supported. Also, ext4 is
not supported in these images. Sorry.

I have been separately working from time to time on updating to a
newer version of anaconda that works with newer kernels and supports
newer filesystems, but the changes are so significant that it's
not clear that it will work with rBuilder, so before those work,
I may also have to implement anaconda image building from scratch
in flimage. (We really neither need nor want some of the complexity
in rBuilder that was originally introduced to meet rPath's customer
needs years ago, so our solution can be a lot simpler.)

I'm not making any promises regarding timeframe of that work, and if
anyone wants to join in, I'd be happy to share the work! For fl2, I'm
trying to get the *el6 version of anaconda (which has dependencies at
about the right level for fl:2 for now) going. For fl3, I expect we
will move forward to the new installer and start contributing directly
upstream.
